Music Connection Critics Pick Their Favorite Acts of 1979

Bruce Duff: 1.THE KATS , fronted by Freddy Moore, are my fave band to listen to and watch.
The music is laced with funk and jazz overtones yet always keeps a rock'n' roll heart.
Their lyrics are a humorous portrait of the suburban kid next door.
A squirrly little guy who looks too anemic to beat up his grandmom, Freddy somehow manages to roar like a lion and conquer audiences nightly.
One of the tightest bands in town, they also have one of the greatest all time theme songs, "I'm a Kat."

2.Like Freddy Moore, MICK SMILEY is an underdog's underdog.
Freddy, however is cute amd Mick is not.
Mick is mad as hell and he's not going to take it anymore.

3.RUBBER CITY REBELS are neither underdogs nor cute.
They play simple basic music that cuts to the heart.

The fact that none of these bands are signed is repulsive.
